| Denver, CO (September 4, 2009) Ever had just a real need for a good B.L.T? Many of the people that are currently being helped by The Salvation Army have the need and Touchstone Medical Imaging is hoping to meet the demand this winter and throughout the year. But these B.L.T.s are not the ones you eat, rather, they are the ones you need every day; Blankets, Linens, Towels. Four Touchstone facilities in metro Denver will host the B.L.T. drive from October 5, 2009 through November 20, 2009. All sizes of blankets, linens (sheets, pillow cases, comforters, pillows, mattress pads, bedding, etc.) and towels will be collected and donated to the metro Denver Salvation Army for use by residents in transitional housing. After completing a transitional housing program, these items will be provided to the residents to start their new lives in permanent housing. “We see in the news everyday about the economy, unemployment and home foreclosures that have had an impact on the basic needs of people that have never had to reach out for help before,” says Theresa Jent , Imaging Center Manager at two of Touchstone’s four Denver metro Imaging Centers. (Highline-Littleton, Dry Creek, Lakewood and Thornton Imaging centers are all local Touchstone imaging sites).“The employees at the Touchstone Imaging facilities recognize that need and want to help. We have always taken an active role in giving back to our communities through several local and national charities.” Transitional housing programs operated by The Salvation Army in Denver provides single men and families with training, housing and curriculums designed to help these individuals address their reason(s) for homelessness and then give them a solid foundation to become self-sufficient again. When you have a need for medical imaging, you have a choice of what imaging facility you can go to for your MRI, CAT scan or X-Ray services. However, when hardship or disaster hits and you need help, you don’t often have a choice. The Salvation Army reminds us that for some, having a warm place to stay and adequate winter clothing is a daily challenge. With the cold winter temperatures fast approaching and the downturn of the economy, The Salvation Army will see the arrival of more people in their transitional housing centers. “Our facility in Tyler, TX had huge success with a blanket drive in 2008 and the Denver facilities have adapted and expanded that idea for this year,” added Jent. “This B.L.T. drive will help them to be better equipped to assist those individuals and families in need.” Touchstone Imaging will be contacting their medical doctor partners throughout the metro area to help collect the B.L.T.s at their offices where Touchstone can pick them up.
